Orkhan Aliyev did his bachelor’s degree on International Relations and International Law at Baku State University. After winning SOCAR’s study abroad scholarship he continued his studies and got MSc from the University of Manchester in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management. He holds the master’s certificate from George Washington University in Project Management. He has completed his Ph.D. at Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. He currently studies Executive MBA at IE Business School in Spain. Moreover, he is the holder of Project Management Institutions’ Agile Certified Practitioner and Human Resources Certifications Institute’s Senior Professional in Human Resources International certificates.

Orkhan Aliyev started his professional experience at SOCAR in 2014 as Recruitment, Selection and Onboarding specialist at HR Department and then in 2017 moved to Investments Department within SOCAR as Deputy Head of Human Resources Development and Workforce Nationalization division. In 2019-2020 he worked as Human Resources Business Partner at PASHA Bank, in 2020-2022 worked as Head of Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning department, in 2022-2023 as Group Human Resources Expert at PASHA Holding LLC. Currently, he works as Senior People and Culture Partner at bp plc.

Apart from professional career, Orkhan Aliyev also pursues academic career. He currently works as Adjunct Instructor at ADA University and Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) in different disciplines such as Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management and Strategic Management. Additionally, he also worked as Adjunct Instructor at Khazar University and University of Economics (UNEC).
